Public Health Clinic Services
Public Health Nurses provide a variety of low- or no-cost services in our health centers, mobile clinics and at public schools.
Services we provide:
Immunizations
Contra Costa Public Health Immunization Clinics provide immunizations to children and adults. Fees depend on patient age, insurance status, and vaccine(s) needed. Clinic locations, times, and fees are available here.
Traveler Immunizations
People traveling abroad often need immunizations weeks in advance of their trips. Once a week, we provide a travel clinic at Vista Oaks Occupational Medicine Clinic in Martinez on Friday mornings. Travel vaccines are available by appointment only on Friday mornings. To schedule an appointment in the Travel Clinic call 925-313-6488. Payment is due at the time of service. Insurance is not accepted.
School-Based Clinics
We currently provide school-based health services to children and school aged students up to 19-21 years of age with mobile clinic health vans and through satellite health centers, located more than 40 campuses in Contra Costa County.
Home Visits
Public Health Nurses (PHNs) provide home visits to low-income high risk clients. The primary focus is new mothers and their newborns, high-risk pediatric clients and women with perinatal depression. PHNs assess medical needs, as well as social/emotional, mental health, education/vocation, and personal/housing needs.
Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Three evenings a week clinics are offered for screening, diagnosis and treatment services of STD including syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis and herpes. Please call 1-800-479-9664 to make an appointment to advise clinic staff of any special problems or for consultation or information.
Health Care for the Homeless
We visit various shelters and community centers throughout Contra Costa County on a weekly basis in a well-equipped medical van. Health Care for the Homeless also provides care in our Ambulatory Clinics as well as our Medical Respite Center.
Pediatrics
Pediatric services are provided at most CCHS health centers including specialized pediatric clinics in Antioch, Brentwood, Concord, Pittsburg and North Richmond. All pediatric clinics are staffed with a pediatrician, nurse practitioner and public health nurse. For appointments or to reach the non-emergency advice nurse, call 1-800-495-8885.
